Grief and Loss Therapy and Counseling Toronto

How do I know if I need grief counseling?

Grief and Loss psychotherapy Toronto Waterloo and Halton Hills

The experience of grief is never easy. Whether the loss is the passing of someone we cared for, or an ending to a chapter or a relationship in our life, the emotional process can be a heavy one.

You may want to explore grief counseling if you believe that you are experiencing secondary and more complex feelings about the loss, which may indicate some unresolved elements in the relationship or if you experience acute symptoms that do not feel proportionate to the loss. Additionally, ongoing feelings of hopelessness, loss of meaning or motivation, feelings of emptiness or inability to move on are also good indicators that additional support may be needed.

How can psychotherapy help me with my grief?

Grief is a universal experience, one that every single person can relate to in some way. Our approach to support is based on helping clients re-connect to their inner resilience, adaptability and explore the fundamental relationship to acceptance.

We use a client-centered approach, which means there is an implicit framework of honoring individual process based on personal beliefs, religion, world perspective, etc. Existential, faith based, and/or spiritual approaches can be utilized to help support the client on their journey.
